The coastal villages share a culinary tradition based on fresh fish and garden
produce, such as fish soup, fish cuajadera or fish paste, typical dishes of
Carboneras, as well as Carboneras prawns and dried fish. In Villaricos the
speciality is fish caught in the Almanzora delta.
The excellent seafood in Garrucha, famous for its fish, includes species such as the snapper, sea bass
or dory, cooked in white wine and olive oil as well as outstanding dishes such
as fish stew, Garrucha style rice, gurullos, sardines in breadcrumbs,
etc.
Mojácar has simple and natural cooking with traditional dishes such
as Mojácar cream, tarbinas or stews. In Vera, sea and land produce are combined
in dishes of the highest quality.
Both inland and coastal villages prepare dishes such as stews, soups, coloured garlic, wheat stew, etc.
